Hortons' Estate

Hortons’ Estate, one of the largest private owners and developers of commercial property in the Midlands for over a century, has joined forces with Business Homes in the new venture, bringing an impressive track record and expertise to the team.

Hortons’ owns a significant holding in Birmingham including in Colmore Row, New Street and also The Burlington Hotel. It first became involved with
Business Homes in 2001, which reflects the company’s strategy to establish partnerships with other developers.

“We were attracted by the quality and highspecification of their product and believe the strength of our name and reputation provides an unrivalled partnership. The developments appeal to a wide range of occupiers, in view of the shortage of high quality offices, and this reflects the levels of interest being expressed in the units”, said Rob Blyth, chief executive of Hortons’ Estate.

The Emery Group

The Emery Group was founded in the l950’s initially as a quality volume house builder but expanded into commercial property development and investment in the 1960’s, creating a substantial mixed portfolio wholly retained by the Emery family.

Following the death of the groups founder, Gordon Haig Emery CBE in 1995, the Directors sought development opportunities with new joint venture
partners and were delighted to be the initial investor in the Business Homes Group.

To date, the joint venture has completed 300,000 square feet of high quality office space together with retail, residential and industrial developments.
These developments were all procured within budget and agreed time parameters. “The partnership is currently on site in five locations across the North of England and firmly believe that the quality of the product will retain significant market demand as the urban centres become increasingly congested.’’, said David Wadsworth, Managing Director of the Emery Group.
