A£14m office park
near Portsmouth
has been officially
launched by develbper
Business
Homes.
Victory Park, consisting of
14 state-of-the-art offices, has
already exceeded sales expectations.
So far eight have been presold,
with a further two under
offer.
Sixty guests, many of them
from the commercial property
sector in and around
Portsmouth, attended the highprofile
launch, which included
a three-course lunch in one of
the showcase offices.
Business Homes's flagship
project on the south coast has
generated employment for
nearly 200 people since the diggers
moved in last September.
In the past eight months 360
tonnes of steel have been
installed, 200,000 bricks laid,
10,000 e-mails exchanged and
75,000 cuppas drunk.
The 14 Whiteley offices, all
two storeys and self contained,
have enough room for between
320 and 600 people, with 209
parking spaces.
Business Homes has also
ordered in hi-tech security
equipment that will give peace
of mind to hundreds of workers,
and is reputedly the first
of its kind at any business
park in Hampshire.
Simon Houlston, the chairman
of Leeds-based Business
Homes, paid tribute to the dedication
of the 172 construction
workers, including those from
Hilsea-based groundwork firm
AK Warren, and a 10-strong
management team.
He said: 'In the winter the
site resembled Glastonbury,
what will all that rain and so
much mud. No wonder so
many cuppas were made.
'Despite these inclement
conditions, the construction
gangs kept up their spirits and
I take my hat off to them for
staying on track.'
Mr Houlston added: 'We
have experienced a good level
of demand, with eight offices
pre-sold and a further two
under offer.
'The story is far from over,
as we have been inundated
with enquiries for the remaining
units.
'Business Homes is confident
of being able to call a full
house soon.'
Beals, a regional estate
agency covering Portsmouth
and the eastern fringes of
Southampton, was the first
owner-occupier in, paying just
over £lm for the freehold of
unit one.
The prime contractor used
by Business Homes, which has
30 similar developments
across the UK, was David
McLean, headquartered in
North Wales.
Victory Park, with offices
from 1,324 sq ft (123 sq m) to
6,168 sq ft (573 sq m), is being
marketed by Hughes Ellard of
Fareham and King Sturge of
Southampton.
They are available either as
leasehold or freehold.
The scheme is easily
accessed, it being located just
off junction 9 of the M27 at
Solent Business Park,
Whiteley.
